Leeds United are reported to have made Olympique de Marseille’s Igor Paixão (26) one of their transfer priorities, according to Foot Mercato.
In their search for attacking reinforcements to bolster their squad, the Peacocks are said to have placed the Brazilian third on their list of potential targets. However, securing the deal is unlikely to be a straightforward task for the English club’s management, who are facing substantial financial demands from their French counterparts.
Indeed, the latter, plagued by significant cash-flow problems, are reportedly demanding a fee of €50m to agree to let their striker go. Leeds, for their part, value him at between €30m and €35m. Such a significant gap clearly does not bode well for the progress of negotiations.
Signed by OM from Feyenoord for €30m last summer, Paixão – who is under contract until 2030 – has had an interesting first season in France. Having made 42 appearances across all competitions, the Macapá-born player has scored 12 goals and provided seven assists.
